LJ Reyes on motherhood: 'Wala naman iisang tamang paraan kung paano maging magulang.'
LJ Reyes gets real about motherhood in time for Mother's Day 2022.
In her Instagram post today, May 9, the Kapuso star asked pressing questions relating to the roles of a mother.
She began, "Paano nga ba maging isang magulang? Paano nga ba magdesisyon para sa buhay ng iba?
"Carried them inside your body for 9 months, will be taking care of them till they can stand on their own, but you never really stop “taking care” of them."
As a single mom, LJ is raising her two children Ethan "Aki" Akio and Summer Ayanna whom she respectively shares with her past partners Paulo Avelino and Paolo Contis.
According to LJ, motherhood does not have specific rules as mothers have different parenting styles and patterns.
"And in the very long time that you have to make decisions on their behalf, paano nga ba piliin ang tama? Wala naman handbook for parents. Wala naman iisang tamang paraan kung paano maging magulang."
Yet, there is one common element.
"There could be a lot of things that are uncertain and not ideal, but one thing remains certain and true-- that LOVE would hold you altogether.
"Na-realize ko sobrang daming ups and downs ng buhay. Pero ang importante maramdaman nila na mahal ko sila in every sense of the word. Like how I would always tell them, home is where we are together. At sila lang ang kailangan ko to keep me going.
"We love because God loved us first. And I experience God's love through them. Kaya naman nag-uumapaw yung pagmamahal na kaya kong ibigay sa kanila. Hindi ako perfect, pero ang alam ko lang mahal na mahal ko sila-- buong buo, siksik na siksik, umaapaw."
To cap off her post, LJ greeted her fellow mamas this Mother's Day.
LJ is currently in the US.
She quietly left the Philippines in September 2021 after her breakup with her live-in partner, actor Paolo Contis to be with her mother and sister who are based in New York City.
