Veteran entertainment columnist and talent manager Lolit Solis lauded the late Marichi Maceda for her immense contribution to the country's entertainment industry.
It was a sad day for the Philippine entertainment industry after it was reported yesterday, September 7, that movie pioneer Maria Azucena Vera-Perez Maceda or “Manay Ichu” died at the age of 77.
Maceda, one of the Philippine film industry's matriarchs, belongs to the family who owned Sampaguita Pictures.

Veteran entertainment columnist and former Startalk host Lolit Solis was noticeably upset upon learning the news of Manay Ichu's death.
On her Instagram post, Solis paid tribute to the great film producer, who helped established the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (Mowelfund).
She said, “Sobra talaga ang pagmamahal ni Manay Ichu Maceda sa showbiz, Salve. Hanggang sa huling sandali ang Mowelfund ang nasa isipan niya.
"Alam niya na ito lang ang natatakbuhan ng mga taga showbiz sa kanilang pangangailangan kaya naman masyado siyang nagwo worry sa itinatakbo ng Mowelfund.
“Ibinilin niya na kahit ano mangyari alagaan ang samahan para patuloy na makatulong sa mga taga industriya.
"Kahit duon sa rosary crusade nuon na binuo nila ni Bishop Soc Villegas ang dasal para sa showbiz industry.
“Hanggang nuon nasa hospital na siya, patuloy parin siya mag monitor sa mga nagaganap sa showbiz.”
Lolit added that Many Ichu is “irreplaceable” and expressed how much they love her.
“Imposible malimutan ang isang Manay Ichu Maceda. Unforgettable siya at hindi puwede palitan. Pray for her, she is now resting in peace. Adios Manay Ichu, we love you. #classiclolita #takeitperminutemeganun #73naako.”
In another post, Lolit advised everyone who plans to give something to the family of Mrs. Maceda like flowers to instead donate it to the Mowelfund.
The former TV host explained, “Iyon urn ni Manay Ichu Maceda will be at Sampaguita Chapel dahil alam ng mga pamilya niya na hindi papayag si Manay Ichu na hindi siya makita ng mga nagmamahal sa kanya.
"Pakiusap lang nila na anuman nais ibigay para sa kanya i donate na lang sa Mowelfund na mahal na mahal niya at hanggang huling sandali gusto niya tulungan,”
