If you want to make sure that your body could take on the pressure of giving birth or you are keen on not putting on much weight while you are pregnant, then how about ask your obstetrician-gynecologist on pregnant-approved exercises to try.

Meanwhile, fitness trainer Charlie Bolias of Anytime Fitness shares his thoughts on what physical activity may be suited for preggy moms.

Long walks

Among the physical activities that Charles suggested is walking long distances.

In an article by livestrong.com, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends that pregnant moms should get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise every week. And what better way to achieve that by just walking in your neighborhood or by getting into a treadmill.

There is a ton of benefits one could derive from walking, but the most important of them all is that pregnant moms ensure that they can keep their weight in check and protect them from acquiring gestational diabetes.

According to www.nhs.uk, gestational diabetes is high blood sugar that develops during pregnancy and usually disappears after giving birth. It can cause several problems like babies to grow larger than usual, premature birth or in rare cases stillbirth.

Walking also helps burn calories, which will make it easier for mommies to get you back in shape after pregnancy. You don't have to worry anymore about fitting in your favorite dress after giving birth.

Yoga

Coach Charles also recommended women to enroll in a prenatal yoga class.

Parents.com listed down what prenatal yoga can do to your body. First, it alleviates any discomfort that you will experience during pregnancy from lower back pain, insomnia, headaches and shortness of breath. It also teaches deep breathing which helps bring much-needed oxygen to the body and muscle.

Needless to say, yoga exercises help pregnant women physically and mentally by training the body to handle the stress of child-bearing.

Being pregnant is a point in a mother's life to be enjoyed. Trying these activities will better prepare, not just your body, but your mind as well and lessen the chances of any complications in giving birth.
