Aicelle Santos recalls her journey as an amateur singer.

Kapuso vocal powerhouse and West End singer Aicelle Santos bared some tips for young aspiring singers to follow during their journey to stardom, especially in times of difficulties.

During the Centerstage media conference on Thursday, February 6, the Centerstage judge was asked by media members about the tips and techniques a kiddie performer can use for his/her every performance, especially during their stint on Centerstage.

She also shared her own personal experience back when she was still a struggling amateur singer.

“I joined several contests, failed some, pero okay lang. Ako siguro nung mas bata ako na natalo ako, 'yung totoo, nalungkot ako. And I said I'll never join a competition again because it hurt me. Parang, hindi naman po ito 'yung gusto ko. Kasi ang nakalaban ko pa bumibirit but I was not a biritera back then,” she shared.

About the tips she wants the joining kids to embody, Aicelle said she wants them to build on their own strength.

“So sabi ko, hindi 'yun (pagbirit) 'yung strength ko, maybe I'll build on my strength. And dun ako nagsimula, that's one,” she added.

“Two, kanta lang nang kanta, ensayo lang nang ensayo. Kasi habang tumatagal, gumagaling ka sa iyong pagkanta. Mayroong kang certain placements na nadi-discover, 'Uy kaya ko na 'to, dati hindi ko kaya.'

“Third, never stop learning. It doesn't stop there. Kapag natutunan mo nang bumirit, it doesn't mean you're the best. You have to eventually mean what you say, 'di ba?

“Bawat letrang kinakanta mo, mayroon kang hatid na kuwento. That's what captures me as a judge. 'Yun 'yung importante sa 'kin,” Aicelle related.

Aicelle is set to screen extremely talented kids in GMA's newest singing talent competition, Centerstage, along with co-judges Concert Queen Pops Fernandez and renowned musical director Mel Villena.

Centerstage will premier soon on GMA primetime.
