Although there's no final list of candidates yet for the upcoming Miss Universe Philippines pageant, Queen of Creative Collaborations Heart Evangelista already has one candidate in mind: Miss Sorsogon 2019 Maria Isabela Galeria.

In a post made on Instagram, the beauty queen attended the Miss Universe press conference held yesterday at the Empire Studios in Uptown Mall, Bonifacio Global City.

The Sorsogon beauty is seen wearing a modern take on the traditional Filipino barong complemented with joggers that feature the weaving of the Itneg tribe.

“From the Itneg tribe of Northern Luzon, Binakul is a traditional optical art weave with dizzying patterns used on blankets meant to ward off evil spirits during sleep.

"The pinya barong open side muscle shirt and Binakul bra and joggers is a forward and youthful take on our traditional weaves by fusing it into sportswear,” she wrote in the caption.

In the comments section, the Kapuso actress showed her support for the young Maria Isabela by writing, “Go for it… dream big.”

Similarly, Heart further validated her statement by posting a photo of the reigning Miss Sorsogon on her Instagram stories.

She wrote, “Rooting for you! :))”

During the press conference, Miss Universe Philippines National Director Shamcey Supsup-Lee confirmed that there will be a new crown for the upcoming pageant and that the much-awaited coronation night will be held this coming May 3, 2020, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
