Former Inday Will Always Love You star Ayra Mariano recently posted her no-makeup selfie for all her followers to see and revealed she's been struggling with acne for almost two years.

“For two years I struggled with breakouts.

“It was a very difficult time for me, especially when I go to work. I get embarrassed about the condition of my face whenever I see others with clear skin.

“I got to a point that it's so hard for me to step outside and face people in daylight or at work when the light hits my face.”

She also admitted facing comments from her Inday Will Always Love You sting due to her pimples.

“There was a time when I played the kontrabida on Inday Will Always Love You, the breakouts were too obvious on-screen and when other viewers especially those who bash my character would say things like, 'Ano ba yan, ang daming pimples,' 'Reyna ng Tigyawat,' 'Nasira ang commercial niya kasi hindi naman napakinis.'

“It affected me so much that I got depressed about those negative comments.”

Starting this off with gratefulness to the Lord for sustaining me and giving me the courage to share one of the battles I literally faced for almost 2 years. Decided to share this because earlier I saw @itskylinealcantara 's post and I got encouraged to share my story as well. In the next photos as you swipe you'll read my story and there are some snapshots from the pages of my journal that speaks of my desperate prayers to the Lord to heal me. Please also remember that you are not alone in this battle. God is with us and for a reason God has let us face this kind of situation to encourage and help you, that we also know what you're going through. All glory belongs to our God ✨🙏🏼 #WomanOfChrist #FearfullyandWonderfullyMade #PerfectlyImperfect #Loved

A trip to the dermatologist later revealed that she is suffering from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), triggering an imbalance in hormones thus leading to severe acne breakouts.

She ended the post with a message to her followers that celebrities face insecurities just like how a normal person would.

“Remember that you are not alone in this battle.”

According to Healthline.com, as many as 10% of teens and young women are living with PCOS and the disorder is characterized by three primary symptoms: irregular periods, multiple cysts, and excess male hormones.
