Mariel Padilla speaks about her rediscovered confidence and self-worth through a series of throwback photos she tagged as "Remembering When I Was Super Fat."

Mariel shared her old pictures with Baby Isabella, explaining that she didn’t want to release them before as she had conspicuously gained weight post-pregnancy.

“I remember being so insecure with my physical attributes like I really didn’t want people to see me and think that I lost myself and became ‘losyang,’” she admitted.

 

#RememberingWhenIwasSUPERFat my biggest/heaviest was when Isabella was about a year old... i was 178lbs!!! heavier than my super fit husband. Even my fingers were fat... my rings could not fit me. I only had a few clothes to wear (it used to be a big deal to me because i did not like repeating clothes... super shallow of me i know ????). I had to buy new shoes because all my shoes did not fit me anymore because everything got soooo big. But i knew FAT IS NOT FOREVER! I was not going to let that be the new me.

The first-time-mom also belatedly posted snaps from their Europe trip as she “didn’t want people to see how big I got.”

 

#RememberingWhenIwasSUPERFat going through old photos of me and Isabella and here are some I couldn’t post because i was super fat!!! 1. The first one was when we just arrived to the Philippines from the States. Isabella was 2 months old. 2. the next was a full view of all my flabs. 3. Isabella resting well sleeping on my arm probably thinking Mommy is a mattress hehe 4. One of our pedia visits and you can see how wide i was 5. Isabella was 5months 6. Random day at home hiding behind my baby 7. When we went to mothercare to help Kylie out with her baby registry. I remember being so insecure with my physical attributes like i really didn’t want people to see me and think that i lost myself and became “losyang”

She claimed she dreaded going to events and was very apologetic about her bigger figure.

 

#RememberingWhenIwasSUPERFat we went to Europe when Isabella was 6months and i barely posted photos because I really didn’t want people to see how big i got. We have more photos from that trip and I couldn’t even transfer them from my camera to my cellphone.

Mariel explained she couldn’t avoid gaining weight as her hormones were messed up and she had to eat to increase her milk supply.

 

#RememberingWhenIwasSUPERFat i dreaded going to events or parties. I only really “came out” for @severianoelliott ‘s 1st birthday that was my fat debut hehe. When i would be invited to parties i would decline I’d tell them I’m too fat to be seen (you know that ate @iloveruffag hehe). When my management @asianartistsagency would call me for work i would tell them “please ask if it is okay that i am fat because they might expect the old mariel and she is not here at the moment”

Despite dealing with her fears and insecurities, she also noted in her Instagram post that she was still happy to spend time with her little daughter.

 

#RememberingWhenIwasSUPERFat i got super fat because my hormones are really messed up. I had very little milk and i wanted to exclusively breastfeed her (which i did for 14months) so i ate my way to have milk. It worked for me but my body suffered. No regrets though.

She ended her series of posts with this: “But I knew fat is not forever! I was not going to let that be the new me."

 

#RememberingWhenIwasSUPERFat here are some of the selfies we took but I couldn’t post because I didn’t want to be cyber bullied for being super fat! But look at us we were so happy (we still are hehe)
