Congratulations, Direk Louie!
The Clash director Louie Ignacio added another feather in his cap as he is set to receive a lifetime achievement award from the International Film Festival Manhattan this November.
This is to recognize the award-winning film and TV director's contribution in the entertainment industry for the past 25 years.
This year's International Film Festival Manhattan will take place virtually from November 19 to 22 due to coronavirus pandemic restrictions.
Louie's short film, Biyaheng Madilim (A Night's Journey), was selected to be screened at the independent film festival. It stars Teri Onor, Jane Kelly "Jingjing" Nuyad, and dog actor Michico.
Biyaheng Madilim follows the story of a blind girl who endures daily abuse by her father by keeping her pet dog by her side and using her imagination to seek comfort in another place.
Aside from Biyaheng Madilim, Louie's short film #DEepexPRESSIONs was also selected for screening in different film festivals around the globe. Shot during lockdown, it is based on the director's life as an artist.
#DEepexPRESSIONs was featured in the 7th Goa Short Film Festival in India and in the 1st Golden Short Film Festival in Italy last September.
It was also invited for screening and competition in the upcoming 7th Art Festival in Florida and 8th Asian Film Festival in Barcelona.
