For some, having a manicure is a practice of personal hygiene but for Heart Evangelista, it's also a way of showcasing her style.

"I guess it also adds to your look, detail is always key.

"I mean, I think that's nice in the sense of, you know, expressing individuality.

"It's like accessorizing so I like it," she tells GMANetwork.com in an exclusive interview.

As an avid fan of nail art, whether it's bejeweled or painted, Heart loves getting gel manicures where artificial nails are placed over the natural ones.

However, she cannot deny the fact that it can be harmful for her nails, so she makes sure that the formula or whatever she puts on them is mild and safe.

Instead of using acrylic or traditional gel nails, she opts for a flexible gel extension, the newest technology in nail enhancement. It is the thinnest set of gel nails made of 100% soft gel, which makes the nails appear natural. It does not damage the natural nail since it soaks off faster than acrylic and gel extensions.

"Well, I love getting gel but, you know, you cannot always do it so my trick would be, I get the Flexi Gel instead of getting hard glue, the one that I usually use.

"Extraordinail helps me do it, para siyang base coat na gel 'yung ginagamit ko pang glue so matibay siya but not as tibay as the usual glue or acrylic glue," Heart explains.

When it comes to renewing the polish, she suggests to wait for the old gel to fall off instead of ripping it off to avoid repeating the whole process which lessens the thinning of the nails. She also takes vitamins to keep her nails strong and healthy.

"People should really find a way to prolong the life of their nail art or their gel," the Queen of Creative Collaborations says.

"If they keep changing colors because nag-go-grow na, babaklasin 'yung buong gel.

"I-pa-file down 'yung real nail and then you put another, it's the same hanggang numipis na 'yung nails.

"I suggest that they get a neutral color, from light to dark, and then patungan n'yo lang 'yung gel mo sa pinaka-bottom, eventually, that's gonna come off so kung ano mang nakapatong do'n, sabay-sabay na sila.

"Ma-pi-flip off mo na siya, eventually, without repeating the whole process, and I just drink vitamins," Heart concludes.
