As the successful historical Korean drama continues, Crown Prince Lee-yeong decides to be bold and confesses his love for Hong Sam-nom aka Hong Ra-on.

After being inspired by the bravery of Eunuch Ma who proudly confessed his love to the maiden in the palace, Crown Prince Lee-yeong decides it's time to admit his feelings to Hong Sam-nom. As he writes his confession, Lee-yeong discovers Hong Sam-nom's real identity.

Not knowing what do with the Crown Prince's confession, Hong Ra-on hides from plain sight but still kept the bracelet he gave her. After talking to Jo Ha-yeon, Ra-on finds out that the bracelet was meant to signify Lee-yeong's hope for the both of them to be together someday.

Afraid of what other people would think of the Crown Prince if they get into a relationship, Hong Ra-on returns the bracelet and asks Lee-yeong if she can be removed from the palace. The Crown Prince gets hurt by Ra-on's decision but lets her go.

Despite having decided to let Ra-on go, Lee-yeong could not contain himself and begged Ra-on to stay with him in the palace. Fueled by his feelings for Ra-on, the Crown Prince cries and regrets he admitted his feelings.

As Ra-on decides to stay, she and the Crown Prince started to treat each other better. Secretly flirting with each other inside the palace, Lee-yeong and Ra-on could not keep their eyes off each other.

Stressed out from his duties as Crown Prince, Lee-yeong receives comfort from Ra-on who tells him a sweet bedtime story. Comforting her beloved, Ra-on tells the story of a mermaid who fell in love with a prince.

Crown Prince Lee-yeong gives an injured Ra-on a piggyback ride and asks for the ending of the mermaid's story. Ra-on explains that the prince married another woman because he did not know the mermaid's real feelings.

Scared that they'll end up like the prince and the mermaid, Lee-yeong finds a way to keep Ra-on in his life even though he is destined for an arranged marriage.

Crown Prince Lee-yeong and Hong Ra-on makes the most out of their time together and does everything to make each other happy despite the circumstances they are in.

At the palace, the child that the Crown Prince met in the city gets convicted for betraying the King. Lee-yeong tries to convince the council that she is only a child and they are to be blamed for her actions. The council disagrees and asks for his understanding of the matter.
