As the successful historical drama Love in the Moonlight draws closer to an end, chaos enters the palace and causes a massive rift in Crown Prince Lee Yeong's friendship.

Moments before the storm, Crown Prince Lee Yeong and Hong Ra-on spend time with each other. Although Ra-on no longer wants to put Lee Yeong's life in danger, the Crown Prince tells her that their lives are intertwined even before they officially meet. He tries to imagine a life where they are living as different people and are allowed to love each other freely.

At the palace, Gyong-nae and Hong Ra-on face death as punishment for betraying the monarchy. As Crown Prince Lee Yeong convinces to give them a chance to explain, a pack of rebels suddenly attempts to help the two escape their faith. While everyone is pointing swords, Byung-yeon who was initially protecting Lee Yeong draws his weapon to the Crown Prince. Surprised to find out his best friend is part of the rebels, Lee Yeong feels confused and lost but is content Ra-on can be saved.

Ra-on and Gyong-nae attempt to leave the palace with the rebels but are stopped by the palace guards. The head eunuch commands them to follow the king's order. Without hesitation, they opened the gates but a few palace guards at the scene reveal that they are rebels. The head eunuch sacrifices his life to help them escape.
