Lorna Tolentino added to her resume when she gave hosting a turn. Critics are giving her a two thumbs-up on her latest career endeavor.
Her ageless beauty and prodigious acting ability made Lorna Tolentino one of the most widely respected and idolized actresses of the country. The magic of hosting A lot of us might know Lorna Tolentino as an award winning actress. She tried something very different from her previous job descriptions when she took on job of co-hosting Startalk. Lorna has been doing this gig for almost two years now but she reveals that it should have been longer than that, "Matagal na akong inaalok, Startalk was first offered to me before, dapat eleven years ko ng ginagawa to." She explains that her reason for refusing the job was her acting career in th movie industry, "Feeling ng iba pag masyado kang exposed sa TV, parang ma lelessen yung bankability mo as a movie star." Lorna jokingly remarked that she was wrong to believe in the idea, "Wrong notion! Wrong knowledge!" she exclaims. Lorna has only been a host for two years, but it seems like she's been doing it all her life, "Pag out in the open yung intriga that's the time na nag tatanong kami, kung yung intriga ay hindi naman pinag-uuspan hindi na." Harder than it looks Being a showbiz talk show host is not as easy at it looks, Ms. LT admits that it takes a little diskarte to get those juicy answers, "Pag medyo touchy (subject) iniiba namin ng konti, medjo lilihis pero doon pa rin yung tanong." She also adds that they also rely on the interviewee's facial reaction, "Depende rin yung sa guest, makikita mo naman kung willing mag-salita yung guest that's the time." But what if the issue at hand involves Ms. LT herself, after all she is a big star, "Pag ako ang hirap! Hindi ko alam kung paano ko sasagutin, parang ayaw mo na lang siya palakihin." She also shares that it's easier when the person on the hot seat is a friend or someone she knows, "Pag friend ko mas madali kasi mas madali kong makakausap." When it come to the latest gossip Ms. LT discloses that as hosts they usually know the real story behind the issues presented on the show, "Sometimes yung truth talaga mas malalim, yung ibabaw lang yung na-scratch minsan alam namin yung lalaim." Keeping the real score is truly stressful. Thankfully she's not alone on the show. "Kami ni Butch(Francisco) yung match sa interviews kami yung parating kino-combine, si Joey (De Leon) and si Nay Lolit (Solis) sila naman yung partner sila yung nagkukulitan." With a fruit basket type of gang joining her it's no wonder Lorna's enjoying her Saturday raket, "Masaya kami doon, parang kanya kanya na kaming pasalubong sa bawat isa aside from pasalubong na chismis." Ms. Lorna Tolentino isn't just an actress but a full-pledged showbiz talk show host with honesty and respect for her craft and the industry she grew up in.
