
Acclaimed writer, novelist, and activist Lualhati Bautista died on Sunday morning. She was 77.
The sad news was confirmed by her first cousins, Maria Rosario and Sonny Ross Samonte, on their respective Facebook accounts.
"My first cousin Ms. Lualhati Bautista, well-known writer, novelist, a feminist, known for her advocacy on women's rights, passed away this morning,” Rosario said in her post.
“May the Lord grant you eternal peace Lualhati or Ne as we used to call you. Everyone will know your name and shall recall your story,” Rosario continued.
Similarly, Samonte confirmed the news in her own post saying, “Sad [n]ews for our Torres Clan, [o]ur first cousin Lualhati Bautista died at 77 yrs old this morning.”
Lualhati Torres Bautista was born December 2, 1945.
She was most known for her political and critical works such as Dekada '70, Bata, Bata, Pa'no Ka Ginawa? and GAPÔ, among others.
