After Lucas's operation, he found Maxine by his side looking after him.
On the November 16 episode of Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation), the medical team, led by Dr. Maxine (Jennylyn Mercado), and Moira (Jasmine Curtis-Smith) did their best to save Lucas (Dingdong Dantes) from dying. Because of this, Diego (Rocco Nacino) decided to donate his blood to Big Boss despite his weak condition.
Lucas went under the knife. When he woke up, Maxine rushed over him to embrace him.
The hospital director from where Maxine was working ordered the medical team to go back to Manila. He secured a private plane for them but Maxine was not ready to leave yet.
When Lucas learned about it, he asked Maxine what he really meant to her. Maxine said she was horrified when he almost died, and pursuing a relationship with him would only give her another heartache.
