This Mother’s Day, witness the heart-wrenching story of Honeylyn and Melanie ‘Melai’ Ledesma: a mother and daughter who proved that they are willing to do everything because of the love they have for each other, be it having to carry the other on one’s back.

Honeylyn grew up in poverty and at a young age of fifteen, she became pregnant with her first child, Melanie/Melai. Her relationship with Melai’s father, Mario, did not last because of the way Mario’s family treated Honeylyn.

Honeylyn became a single mother. She worked as a waitress in a bar and raised Melai on her own. Love found her again in Alfred, an older guy who promised to love her and her daughter. But after having three of Alfred’s children, Honeylyn discovered that he had a violent streak. Honeylyn did her best to protect her children from Alfred’s temper, and she became crippled as a result of Alfred bashing her knee. Alfred left her soon after.

Honeylyn was unable to walk and had no means to raise her four children… but she had help from Melai, her eldest daughter. At thirteen, Melai accepted the responsibility of earning a living by carrying her mother on her back as they forage for scraps to sell at the junk shop.

Soon, Melai and Honeylyn became known in their town of Pililia, Rizal as an epitome of a loving mother and child and they received help from the municipality.

This presentation entitled ‘Pasan Ko Ang Aking Ina’ stars Kris Bernal as Honeylyn, Barbara Miguel as Melai, Rodjun Cruz as Alfred, Kevin Santos as Mario, Shyr Valdez as Lorena, Raquel Monteza as Tiya Piling and Liezel Lopez as Tessa.
