Proclamation No. 1414 names 10 new National Artists for 2025.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared 10 new National Artists for 2025.
Under Proclamation No. 1414, the Order of National Artists were conferred to Nicanor Tiongson and Gregorio Brillantes for Literature, Imelda Cajipe-Endaya and Nunelucio Alvarado for Visual Arts, Gabriel Formoso for Architecture, Rafael "Nonoy" Froilan for Dance, Maria Beatriz "Patis" Tesoro for Design, Armando "Bing" Lao for Film and Broadcast Arts, Teodoro Hilado for Theater, and Alfredo S. Buenaventura for Music.
Brillantes, Formoso, Lao, and Hilado were awarded posthumously.
Meanwhile, Cajipe-Endaya is the first female National Artist in the field of visual arts.
The National Artist Award was established in 1972 under Proclamation No. 1001. It honors Filipinos who have made outstanding contributions to Philippine arts and letters.
