"The process that we did for this film Muro-ami is that we got the best copy of the film we could from the print," sabi ni Ms. Manet.
"The first, actually, from the film itself, we first physically cleaned the film. We made sure that all the splices, the things, were still okay. Then, after that, we scanned it into a digital format. After the scanning was done, we did the color correction where we brought back the vibrant colors that were always there.
"And then, after that, we did the manual restoration where we cleaned up all the dirt, scratches, mold, and all the other imperfections that were there. Both for the pictures and also with the sound, where we cleaned up the audio.
"Basically, what we wanted to do was really just to bring it back to the same condition from when it first came out. The digital restoration of the film took a total of about 1,200 hours."
