Fans of the '80s loveteam of Janno Gibbs and Manilyn Reynes will be looking forward to their reunion in the Vivamax movie Mang Jose.

The OPM icon will play the lead role Mang Jose, while the multi-awarded comedienne was chosen to portray the villain character King Ina.

Also part of the phenomenal cast of the film are Jerald Napoles, Mikoy Morales, Gab Lagman, and Bing Loyzaga.

During the virtual media conference of Mang Jose on Wednesday, December 15, Manilyn admitted to GMANetwork.com that it's her first time to play an antagonist in the movie.

She said, “First time sa pelikula, oo, mako-consider ko na first time na gumanap ako ng villain.

“Naaliw ako dun sa character, naaliw ako sa role ko sa totoo lang, kasi ang sarap niyang paglaruan. Thank you Direk [Rayn Brizuela], kasi ang saya siyang gawin.”

The Pepito Manaloto star added that she wanted to portray a character like King Ina for the longest time.

“Matagal ko ng gustong gawin ang ganyang role, kaya lang hindi pa nabibigyan ng pagkakataon and this time, dito nga sa Mang Jose, e, ako na si King Ina.”

This Vivamax project is directed by the brilliant Rayn Brizuela, who shared that it was nerve-wracking to direct these veteran actors for the first time.

He told GMANetwork.com, “First of all, overwhelming dahil veteran actors [ang] nakatrabaho [ko], sila Sir Janno Gibbs, Bing Loyzaga, Miss Manilyn Reynes, and Mikoy Morales, of course.

“Siyempre, may kaba at first na baka meron silang nae-envision for their characters. Pero nakakatuwa sila kasi very collaborative sila, especially Janno and Mikoy, we send notes.”

Rayn continued, “Talagang nakikikinig sila, kumbaga ano 'yung direksyon for the characters, kaya siya super fun siya. Super enjoy ako talagang sina Janno and Mikoy, kasi nakakatawa talaga sila in person, talagang ine-enjoy lang namin 'yung shoot.”
