Filipino-Canadian actor Manny Jacinto had a heartwarming homecoming as he returned to the Philippines to promote his upcoming movie Freakier Friday, starring alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan, and Chad Michael Murray. The film is a sequel to the blockbuster hit Freaky Friday from 2003.
Born in the Philippines to Filipino parents and raised in Canada, Manny didn't waste any time showing off his Tagalog skills. During a mall show for the Freakier Friday film franchise at SM Mall of Asia on August 5, he greeted the audience with warmth.
"Kumusta po kayo?" Manny said, drawing cheers from the crowd.
He described the entire experience of working on the movie as a dream come true. Manny shared his thoughts on being part of Freakier Friday as single dad Chef Eric, the love interest of Anna, portrayed by Lindsay Lohan.
“It feels like a dream. Honestly, I never would have thought that I'd be, you know, I was born here [Philippines], so like a local boy that gets to act opposite Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis is wild to me,” Manny said.
“Never would have thought. But here we are. It's a dream to be here right now.” he said.
Manny won over the crowd by speaking Tagalog, as he invited everyone to watch Freakier Friday.
“Sana panoorin ninyo ang Freakier Friday. Maraming maraming salamat po,” he said.
Before starring on Freakier Friday, Manny has made his name known in Hollywood for The Good Place, Nine Perfect Strangers, Brand New Cherry Flavor, Top Gun: Maverick, Star Wars: The Acolyte, among many other TV shows and films.
