Marina Summers

Marina Summers has already spoken out regarding those criticizing her and her fellow drag queen, Angel Galang, following her hosting stint at Miss Universe Philippines 2026.

Drag queen Marina Summers took to social media to address the ongoing bashing directed at her and her drag sister, Angel Galang, following her hosting stint at the recently concluded Miss Universe Philippines 2026 coronation night.

In her post, Marina expressed that hosting Miss Universe Philippines is a major milestone in both her career and her life.

While she admitted to understanding that this role comes with mixed opinions from the audience, she did not expect to receive such a wave of negative and alarming comments, including unexpected death threats.

Marina also emphasized the harassment experienced by her fellow drag queen, Angel Galang, after the latter shared her own comments regarding Marina's hosting in the said beauty pageant.

“Hosting Miss Universe Philippines 2026 has been one of the greatest milestones of my career and my life,” Marina wrote in her post.

“And while I understand that there will be different opinions and some resistance to it, I did not expect the vile & alarming amount of transphobia, hate and even death threats thrown at me. Moreso, the hate and harassment being thrown to my sister, Angel,” she continued.

She also didn't hold back in her statement, delivering a firm plea for respect and a reminder of her core mission as an artist representing the LGBTQIA+ community.

“This is not what I stand for. This NEEDS TO STOP,” she wrote.

“Sa lahat ng trabaho at success na pinaghirapan natin, dala dala ko ang pag asa na iaangat nito ang pagtanggap sa LGBTQIA+,” she added.

Marina admitted that while she was hurt by Angel's remarks, she would never allow others to hurl hurtful words at her fellow queen. She asserted that Angel's criticism is not an excuse for people to feel entitled to attack the drag artist.

“While I was admittedly hurt by her statements, I do not condone any hurtful and hateful words thrown at her because of it. Huwag itong gamiting excuse para manira ng kapwa. It just sets us back and everything we've worked so hard for just loses its meaning,” Marina expressed.

Setting a firm boundary for her audience, she also clarified that while she accepts criticism, she will not tolerate abuse.

“Everyone is entitled to their opinions. What you are not entitled to is disrespect. While I may not be able to change everyone's opinion, I would like to call on everyone who believes in me,” she said.

Marina also expressed her gratitude to her supporters who have been sending love and support during this time. She then reminded them to always share love and kindness with the people around them.

“I am truly grateful for all the outpour of love and support. I ask that you only spread love, grace and kindness to the people around you,” Marina wrote.

Confirming that the tension has settled, the drag queen shared that she and Angel have already settled their differences privately and expressed her appreciation for her fans' continued understanding.

“Angel and I were able to resolve things privately. Let's give her space and understanding,” she expressed.

She continued, “Maraming salamat sa pag-unawa.”

Prior to this, Angel had already reached out to Marina via Facebook to express her regrets and offer a public apology.

“Unang-una sa lahat sorry mga alaga, award sena! Hard loka! Pero sorry I'm really really sorry hard especially to my sister, Marina. Na-over express ako at I know na mali talaga ako,” Angel said.

“I want to take accountability and responsibility dito mga 'nak. Pero thank you talaga sa mga taong nag call out sakin para maging better person. Thank you din sa mga queens na nagsabi sakin na mali ang nagawa ko,” she continued.

After making a name for herself as the runner-up in the debut season of Drag Race Philippines, Marina went on to showcase Filipino excellence on the international stage.

In 2024, she competed in the second season of RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. the World, where she finished in the top four.

Her run on the show earned her widespread praise from RuPaul and fans worldwide, solidified by her performances and runway looks that proudly celebrated her “Pinoy Pride” heritage.
