Mark Herras

Mark Herras reveals how he always wanted to be a kontrabida. Find out the full story here.

Starstruck alum and Unica Hija star Mark Herras finally fulfilled his dream role in his latest project Unica Hija: to be a kontrabida. It is a role he has been asking for from GMA ever since.

In an interview on GMA Regional TV BizTalk, Mark revealed that after he got lead roles and matinee idol roles, he requested from Senior Vice President of the Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable if they could give him kontrabida roles.

While he did have a kontrabida role before in the thriller series The Cure, he does not consider it as his role then was “50 percent masama, 50 percent mabait din pala.”

“Ito yung full force talaga na kontrabida, na obsessed yung character ko, na-in love ako sa clone ni Kate (Valdez),” he added.

Unica Hija tells the story of Christian, played by Alfred Vargas, a scientist passionate about genetic engineering. Due to his passion, he disregards his wife, Diane (Katrina Halili), and daughter, Bianca (Kate Valdez). However, an incident will cause him to use his passion to clone his own daughter.

With his dream role fulfilled, Mark could not be happier, especially with the great reaction of the audience to his role.

“The feedback is really crazy. As in yung TikTok account ko, imbis na i-appreciate 'yung sayaw, 'Ibalik mo si Hope!'” he said, recalling a comment from one of his dance videos on the social media platform.

He added, “Based sa mga nakasama ko po na kontrabida, once na yung tao e nagagalit sa'yo, ibig sabihin, effective yung role mo bilang kontrabida.”
