Kapuso actor Mark Herras remembers his mother on her fifth death anniversary.
Jasmin Santos passed away on April 12, 2016, due to cardiac arrest.
In an Instagram post this morning, Mark wrote a touching message to his mom accompanied by a photo of her smiling.
“5 years in heaven mama. Okay naman kame ni Kuya kaya pa hahaha miss na miss ka namin!!,” the StarStruck alumni wrote.
“Sayang hindi mo naabutan si Corky pero I'm sure binabantayan nyo naman sya palage. Love you ma!!!”
Corky, whose real name is Mark Fernando, is the actor's son with actress and fiancée Nicole Donesa.
The death of Mark's mom came less than two years after the actor's adoptive father, Jun Herras, passed away in 2014.
In an interview days after his mom's death, Mark confided that his mother's health deteriorated after the demise of his grandmother.
“Severe depression lang talaga yung nakikita sa kanya,” Mark told veteran entertainment reporter, Rey Pumaloy.
“Wala naman siya talagang major na sakit. It started nung namatay si Mamang, yung mama niya. Hindi na siya naka-recover from that.”
He added, “Parang makaka-recover siya for a while, makakabawi nang konti, magkakalaman siya nang konti, she can walk again.
“Pero mas sandali lang yung recovering time niya, e.
“Ang sobrang tagal yung depression niya na up to the point na nangyari sa kanya recently, hindi na siya kumakain at all, hindi na siya tumatanggap na kahit anong solid, liquid [food], kahit water.
“Nagkaroon na siya ng bed sores… severe depression nga.”
Mark continued, “Ever since naman, nung mamatay si Mamang and my dad, kapag nagkakasakit siya ng ganyan, before pa itong nangyari last week, before pa sinasabi na niya na, 'Kunin na niyo ako, Mang, sama na ako sa inyo.'”
Since Jasmin's death, the Kapuso actor would make it a point to post a message to her to mark special occasions.
Mark has always been a fighter. Since emerging into the scene in 2003, fans of the actor dubbed as the “Bad Boy ng Dance Floor” have seen him through the many chapters of his life including the birth of his son, Corky, with Nicole.
