After a successful career and even bagging his dream role, Unica Hija actor Mark Herras could not be more grateful to Starstruck. The show opened a lot of doors for him in the entertainment industry.
In an interview on the GMA Regional TV show BizTalk, Mark said that it was Starstruck that paved the way for him to enter showbiz.
“Dun po talaga nagsimula lahat ng kung ano 'yung meron ako ngayon, kung ano 'yung status ng karera ko ngayon,” he said.
He added, “Talagang sila po 'yung naging opportunity ko, sila 'yung naging daan para mabuksan 'yung [opportunities] sa showbiz so talagang malaki ang pasasalamat ko.”
Mark joined the artista search competition show back in 2003 and was named as the Ultimate Male Survivor while Jennylyn Mercado was named as the Ultimate Female Survivor. They were joined by now Kapuso artists, former Start-Up Ph star Yasmien Kurdi, and Mark's Unica Hija co-star Katrina Halili.
Despite the newfound fame and opportunity in the showbiz industry, Mark, however, said that he had a lot of adjustments to make after he won the competition and started his career.
“Wala akong background sa showbiz, wala akong anything na kaalaman sa industriyang ito, so nung nagkaroon ako ng mga first project ko sa GMA, parang ginawa ko lang kung ano yung sinasabi sa akin nung director,” he said.
However, he was able to compensate his lack of experience with the advice given to him by senior actors he's worked with, especially during his first GMA Telebabad series Forever in My Heart.
“Kasama ko agad sila ate Reg (Regine Velasquez), si Kuya Goma (Richard Gomez), si Kuya Ariel Rivera. Working with them, makasama mo 'yun tapos bata ka, parang andami mong matututunan so ginamit ko 'yun para matapos ko at magawa ko 'yung dapat kong gawin for that role, for the other shows pa na nagawa ko,” he said.
“Ginamit ko 'yung advice nila para ma-accomplish ko 'yung ginawa ko,” he added.
