He blames his being a “touchy-feely” person for people’s impression of him as a playboy. But there’s a bigger (and more endearing) reason why Mark is very affectionate towards women, and it has nothing to do with deceit. “Kasi nga di ba, nung bata ako, di na ako lumaki with my mom, so naghahanap ako ng aruga ng isang nanay, so ako naman, malambing ako in a way na mahilig akong yumakap, mangiliti, mangulit, which is ‘yung ibang tao, iniisip nila na parang, babaero na,” he explains. Winning his heart This is the reason why most of the girls whom he has fallen for are all very sweet-natured, says the StarStruck 1 Ultimate Male Survivor. “I mean, ang pinaka nagugustuhan ko lang sa girl is malamabing (na) malambing, ‘yun lang. So like si Jen (Mercado), Cristine (Reyes), Marian (Rivera), Katrina (Halili), malambing talaga lahat ‘yan.” Mark clarifies, however, that even though he can be touchy towards girls, most of the time, it’s all in good fun. “Kunwari nag-play kami last time. Sila LJ (Reyes) kinukulit ko, sila Iwa (Moto), pero wala naman sa ‘kin (‘yun).” So what is Mark’s type of gal? What’s the first thing he notices in a girl? “Actually, eyes and lips,” he reveals. “Kung napapansin niyo, most sa mga naging past relationships ko, hindi pare-parehas ang itsura nila,” he says with a smile. But the question is, who were his former girlfriends? With a bit of hesitation, Mark answers, “Um, si Jen ‘yung official, (pero) ayaw ko nang magsalita, kasi ‘yung iba, pag sinasabi kong official, sinasabi nila hindi naman, so di ba, parang ako lang napapahiya?!” Among the women linked to this actor-dancer are Jennylyn Mercado, Marian Rivera, Nicole Andersson, Cristine Reyes, Katrina Halili, and the most recent, EB Babe Liane. Pogi points With so many beautiful women linked to this guy, you couldn’t help but wonder what he’s been doing to win their hearts. His answer was quite a surprise. “Mahiyain ako in person, (kung may gusto ako), hindi ko siya makausap nang normal pero pagdating sa text, dun ako ma-vocal, malakas ‘yung loob ko sa text. Pero once na ‘yung girl na makita ko, (tahimik na ako)!” He adds frankly, with a mischievous glint in his eye, “Actually ano eh, magaling ako mambola, eh!” We ask him to give us a sample of his text messages and after much prodding, he gives in to our plea. “Hindi, ano lang naman, ‘yung mga normal (na text message), parang, ‘Kumain ka na ba?’ ‘Kamusta ka?’ ‘Anong ginagawa mo?’” “Maalaga” is how Mark describes himself when he likes a girl. But what if the object of his affection doesn’t reply to his “maalaga” messages? “Magda-drama ako na parang, ‘Nakaka-istorbo na ba ako sa’yo?’” he replies with a grin. Once the text exchange breaks the awkward phase of getting to know each other, Mark says that he prefers to be friends with them first, as opposed to taking the plunge right away. He recalls that when someone asked his help in wooing a girl, he told him “Marunong akong maging sweet (sa) roses, pero ‘yung pupunta ako sa bahay, kakausapin ko ‘yung girl, magkatabi kami tapos nanliligaw ako, hindi ko ginagawa ‘yun. Dinadaan ko na lang sa pagiging sweet!” The sweetest thing What’s the sweetest thing he’s done for a girl? “Hmm, isa pa lang naman talaga ‘yung nagagawa ko na feeling ko pinaka-sweet, (and it’s) with Jen, eh,” he starts off. “Ewan ko lang kung sasabihin niya, basta ako, ang alam ko ‘yung pinaka-sweet, kung hindi ‘yung first time ko siyang binigyan ng flowers nung may taping kami tapos pagpasok niya sa van meron siyang bouquet of flowers… “Or ‘yung isa, ‘yung one year anniversary namin, na pagpasok niya ng bahay niya, puro (rose) petals…” Aww…Jen answered the exact same thing when we asked her about the sweetest thing a guy has done for her! She even told us that no one has beaten Mark’s gesture yet! Mark couldn’t help but grin proudly and say, “Kasi pag may gumaya nun, sasabihin niya, “Ay, ginawa na ‘yan ni Mark!” Apparently, he, too, has not done anything as special for another girl ever since.
