Marvin Agustin

Before being a talented actor, Marvin Agustin experienced the hard work inside a restaurant!

It's always inspiring to hear the humble beginnings of celebrities and how they rose to fame.

One star who recently shared an uplifting story is Ex-Ex Lovers actor and chef Marvin Agustin.

On Instagram, Marvin took a trip down memory lane recalling the time when he worked at Tia Maria's Mexican Restaurant back in 1995.

Alongside a throwback photo, he reflected on the valuable lessons and life experiences that shaped his journey.

"Dito ako natuto respetuhin at mahalin ang kahit na anong klaseng trabaho. Dito all around kami kasi mahina ang benta namin nun," Marvin wrote. "I remember in a day ikot ang mga responsibilidad namin: waiter, bar tender, kitchen help, cashier, minsan [security guard] or janitor, local store marketing. LAHAT!"

Despite the challenges, Marvin shared how he learned to embrace every moment and turn struggles into strength.

"Ang sarap pagdaanan at kuhanan ng leksyon ang mga panahon na susubukin ka ng buhay. Kaya LABAN LANG NG LABAN. Walang makakatalo sa taong ayaw magpatalo!"

Fans quickly flooded the comments section with words of admiration and encouragement, applauding Marvin for staying grounded and authentic.

In a 2023 episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Marvin also recalled how he was first scouted for showbiz while working at Tia Maria's. Surprisingly, he initially turned it down.

"Kasi masayang-masaya ako, nagwe-waiter non, pag-aaralin ako sa umaga ta's magta-trabaho sa Tia Maria's sa gabi, tapos ang gusto ko non, maging manager ng restaurant,” he said.
But fate had other plans. Marvin eventually stepped into the entertainment world and became one of the most recognizable faces in Philippine showbiz.

He didn't stop there as he also pursued his passion for food and became a successful chef-restaurateur, now owning more than 50 food ventures including Cochi, Kondwi, and Mr. Monk Dimsum & Roast.
