Kapuso heartthrob Dennis Trillo not only gained a larger following after his My Husband’s Lover stint, but also added another prestigious award to his name.

Dennis was honored by the Entertainment Press Society as he bagged the award for the Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series in the 5th Golden Screen Awards for TV last March 21.

Even if this wasn’t his first gay role, the portrayal still brought a couple of challenges which he dealt with, with much focus. Experience helps, he said, but constant reinvention is a must.

“Kailangan mag-aral ka din, mag-research ka, manood ng iba’t-ibang tao sa paligid mo. Syempre [tumutulong] din 'yung experience [mo dati] pero kailangan mag-aral ka [pa] din,” he said.

Dennis noted how his primary concern, in any project he takes on, is how well he could deliver. Positive feedback is only a bonus.

“[Hindi ako] mahilig magpapansin. Ginagawa ko lang 'yung trabaho ko. Kung mapapansin nila ‘yun, bonus na lang,” he shared.

With his continuous success, doesn’t he think about getting into a relationship again?

“Mas effective sa akin ngayon ang pagiging single. So, kung subukan ko pang patagalin pa ‘to, baka mas marami pang mabuting bagay na mangyari sa buhay ko at sa career ko,” he declared.

Asked if there was a special celebration for yet another award under his belt, he said that every day brings a reason for merriment.

“Celebrate? Dapat araw-araw nagce-celebrate ka, hindi porket nanalo ka lang. Kailangan mag-celebrate ka dahil masarap mabuhay. So 'yung celebration, dapat araw-araw,” he said.
