Maui Taylor has been one of the esteemed actresses for a long time now. But did you know that aside from being a sexy icon, she is also a cooking icon?
In her latest appearance on GTV's cooking talk show Lutong Bahay, Maui told Mikee Quintos and Kuya Dudut about her experience from getting her diploma in culinary arts.
“Nag-full diploma course ako. Hindi ako nag-showbiz halos for one year,” said Maui.
(I took a full course with a diploma. I did not engage in showbiz for about a year.)
Of course, part of her culinary experience is the rush for special events where people are spending a lot of time in hotels and restaurants.
Maui told Mikee and Kuya Dudut, “Na-experience ko 'yung Valentine's Day, alam mo pagpasok ko sa hotel ng 9 a.m., nakalabas ako 2 a.m. Nakatayo lang ako the whole time; cooking, cooking, cooking.”
(During Valentine's Day duty, I clocked in at 9 a.m. and did not go out until 2 a.m. I just stood inside the kitchen; cooking, cooking, cooking.)
Aside from the holiday rush, Maui could also not forget about the humbling experience of having to eat her lunch inside the chaotic kitchen.
According to Maui, “Na-experience ko 'yung magla-lunch break [...] tapos uupo ka lang sa crates, sa tabi ng kusina [...] tapos doon ka na magla-lunch.”
(I also experienced having to eat my lunch inside the kitchen while sitting down on crates.)
“Hindi nakakaartista,” Maui added.
(It was very different from my celebrity life.)
