As corruption blasted through headlines and onto the streets, actress Maxene Magalona remembered her late father, musician Francis M, who had long been writing anti-corruption songs.
In an Instagram post, the actress shared the lyrics of her late father's song, “1-800-Ninety-Six,” along with her black-and-white photos.
“Hanggang ngayon pa rin sila pa rin ang nakaupo,” she began.
She shared, “Nais kong ibahagi ang isa sa mga kanta na sinulat ng aking ama na si FrancisM tungkol sa korapsyon dito sa ating bansa na pinamagatang, “1-800-Ninety-Six.”
Maxene also reintroduced her late father to the younger generation, who may not be familiar with the musician.
She said, praising her father, “Isa siyang matapang na musikero noong dekada nobenta na naglakas-loob magsulat ng mga kanta tungkol sa mga kasamaan sa ating lipunan.”
Maxene proudly explained that her father wrote these songs to enlighten Filipinos with the truth and to be an inspiration through his music.
At the end of her post, she urged, “Inaaanyayahan ko kayong gumising at bumangon para sa ating bansa. Laban, Pilipinas.”
Francis M is known for his hit songs, including “Kabataan Para Sa Kinabukasan,” “Kaleidoscope World,” and “Friends.” He passed away in 2009 due to acute myeloid leukemia.
