“One of the most important lessons that my father shared with me is to treat everyone equally.

“One time he was giving me advice about work. He told me, 'Our job is just a job.' He said, 'Just because we appear on television, it doesn't mean that we are better or more important than others.'

“It was my dad who taught me that we are all equal. We are all equal and we are all the same. We are all together in this world,” she said.

She shared that treating others with respect and equality will be beneficial to everyone especially in this time of COVID-19 pandemic.

“And just by seeing how he treated the people around him fairly and equally, I learned how to see others equally as well.

“Until now, especially with what's happening in the world today, it's so important for us to see our fellow human beings equally.

"Let's look them in the eye so that they know that they are not alone because we are all together in this world. We should all help each other, love each other and be united,” she added.

Maxene is currently in Bali, Indonesia with her husband Rob Mananquil where they got stranded after the pandemic caused flight cancellations worldwide.

Meanwhile, the tranquil time that she has spent on the island led to the actress's disclosure about her mental health and some of her personal struggles.

She recently revealed that she was diagnosed with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or C-PTSD and opened up about her feelings of uncertainty, anxiety, and fear that was brought about by her intense feeling of wanting to be in total control.

Maxene has promised herself to allow her feelings and gut instinct to control her rather than blindly follow what her mind tells her to do.

“This year, I made a promise to my heart that I would finally allow it to beat freely and happily. Instead of blindly following what my mind tells me to do like I usually do, I now take a moment to listen to my heart and follow my gut instinct and feelings,” she said.
