It's been six years since Megan Young was crowned Miss World, but to this day, she is still looking every inch a queen.
"To be honest, I have no other time to take care of myself lately," she sheepishly admitted to the lifestyle press at the Transformations 2019, a health and beauty campaign spearheaded by BFC Laboratories and Watsons at the SM Mall of Asia.
"Hindi na ako nakakapunta sa derma, at hindi na ako nakakapag-gym.
"All I have to do is take my supplements in the morning and I'm good to go.
"I don't have to worry about getting tired, I don't have to worry about not having the time to do it [going to the gym]. It's fast and simple and I can take it in the comfort of my home."
Aside from having a happy and content disposition in life, the star of Hanggang Sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko credited her collagen supplements for her healthy physique.
"I've been taking it for two years. I can say I'm an advocate.
"It's an added boost of confidence. We're getting older as years go by. When we reach 25, medyo nawawalan na tayo ng collagen, 'di ba? I'm 29 so dapat talaga ngayon pa lang."
Collagen production does start to decline around the age of 25. According to the website healthline.com, collagen supplements actually bring a lot of good to the body. Collagen can improve skin health, minimize joint pain, keep bones and muscles strong and healthy, and help reduce heart-related conditions.
Megan, who also happens to be the endorser of popular supplement Cosmo Skin, added that having a positive mindset and a grateful heart definitely helped her achieve a sense of balance in her life.
"My mindset has been changing.
"Before I'd be like, 'Oh, I am so tired, I don't have enough time to do this and do that.' But then I changed my mindset, I'm like, 'You know what, I'm doing a lot, and I am really thankful that I am doing a lot.'"
Megan is now at that stage in her life that she no longer feels the need to impress other people.
"It's important that you start doing things that you really like, especially when you reach this age. It's not all about impressing anymore. It's not about making sure you're on top of everything."
The moment she changed her mindset was the moment she gained a sharper focus on the things that matter to her.
"But now it's mainly doing what I wanna do. I'm doing my stream," she said, referring to video game live streaming, or the practice of broadcasting live on social media her gameplay.
"I've been pursuing gaming, like I've always wanted to do that in high school. Mikael [Daez, her boyfriend] and I are doing the podcast, doing the vlog, and we're doing things that we're not even sure of what they're going to be in the next five years.
"For as long as we're happy doing it, okey na 'yon."
Megan Young is happier, healthier now. That's all that matters.
