Megan Young also so spoke candidly on how the pandemic is changing the beauty pageant industry.

Kapuso actress and beauty queen Megan Young remains uncertain about the course of the beauty pageant industry since the outbreak of the coronavirus in the whole world.

During a virtual press con, Megan shared her view on how the virus has changed how people view large events like beauty pageants and Olympic competitions.

She told members of the media, “It has definitely changed because we're used to seeing pageants on stage with a live audience but I guess the same goes for other sports events also. It's something Mikael [Daez] and I ask is, 'Matutuloy pa ba 'yung NBA? Paano kaya 'yun?'

“So at the back of my head, paano nga ba?

“I host Miss World every year and wala rin akong balita kung ano'ng mangyayari doon. It has definitely changed. As of now, I have no idea. But I think the first thing that we want to do is to make sure that everyone's safe.”

Megan shared that she's also taking notice of how some pageants are having their shows virtually through Zoom or other video sharing platforms.

“Alam ko may iba na naghahanda online para sa national pageant. I commend that as long as they take the safety precautions that they need to. So, why not?

“Marami rin naghahanda kasi beauty pageants are there for a good cause and there are so many advocacies ng girls. So malay natin maiba 'yung platform ng beauty pageants in the coming years. Maybe it would not just be a show anymore,” she mentioned.

In the hour long press con, the 30-year-old actress was also questioned about her views on beauty queens engaging in certain issues regarding the industry.

To which she replied, “I commend them for speaking their mind.

“I think we all have different ways of showing support for certain things: others may be outspoken about certain things, others they try to do it behind closed doors, and others do it through donating.

“I don't think people should be pressured to do things a certain way. We all have certain ways of doing it, ways na mas makakatulong tayo so I think to each their own,” she concluded.
