Mercedes Cabral and Shandii Bacolod


"It was a very hard pill to swallow," Mercedes wrote in her post on Instagram.

International acclaimed actress Mercedes Cabral penned a touching tribute to her late manager, producer and director Shandii Bacolod.

In her Instagram post, the 35-year-old actress shared some photos of Direk Shandii as she thanked him for everything that he did for her.

She wrote, "It was a very hard pill to swallow. I was very resistant when I heard it from a dear friend last night. My heart cracked a thousand pieces last night.

"A manager. A sister. A very dear friend that's really close to my heart.

"You will always be the baddest queen bitch that I know. You will live on thru our stories and we will always raise a glass for you.

"You will be missed. 'til next time gorgeous."

According to reports, Direk Shandii (Mark Shandii Bacolod in real life) died in Bangkok, Thailand on June 9, 2022, due to cardiac arrest. He was 37.

In a statement, the family of Direk Shandii requested for respect and asked for prayers.

The statement read, "The immediate family is requesting privacy at this. Details to follow with regards to the internment, so we can pay our final respects.

We humble ask for your prayers for the eternal repose of his soul and for the peace and strength of their family and loved ones."

Direk Shandii was the director of the online boys' love series, Love at the End of the World. He also directed indie films, like Ben & Sam and Fidel.

Aside from being a director, Direk Shandii also produced several films, including Culion, which starred Kapuso actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith.

Rest in peace, Direk Shandii.
