Bubble Gang comedian Michael V. strikes again with another laugh-out-loud moment!
At the recent Manila International Book Fair, the multi-awarded star took the stage to read an excerpt from Ricky Lee's Pinilakang Tabing.
True to form, Bitoy opened with a punchline that had the audience bursting with laughter.
"Magandang hapon po, ako si Michael V.," he began.
"'Di po ako 'yun, kamukha ko lang," he quipped, instantly cracking up the crowd and fellow guests on stage.
The hilarious intro was a playful nod to his newest parody character, Ciala Dismaya, which took off after netizens noticed his uncanny resemblance to controversial figure Cezarah “Sarah” Discaya.
In an exclusive interview with GMA News Online, Bitoy admitted even he noticed the resemblance during the Senate and House of Representative investigation about the flood control projects by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
“Parang kamukha ko siya. Parang konting effort na lang magagaya ko na siya.” the Kapuso comedy star said. “Hindi ko muna inisip na gayahin right away. Pero dahil sa dami ng messages na nagpa-flood sa feed ko, binato ko na agad sa creative team ng Bubble Gang. And they had the same idea rin pala.”
Bitoy and the whole program team were quickly surprised as well by the massive buzz around Ciala Dismaya's teaser.
"Nagulat ako dahil nakatalikod pa lang, 'di pa nga nila nakikita 'yung mukha, na-excite na agad 'yung mga tao. Abangan ninyo this Sunday, mas lalo kayong matutuwa sa inihanda namin,” he added.
As for the impersonated figure herself, Sarah Discaya--through her lawyer Atty. Cornelio Samaniego III--had no hard feelings about the spoof.
“Wala siyang violent reaction [or] whatever, wala. Nire-respeto natin si Michael V., idol natin yan sa Bubble Gang. Trabaho niya 'yan, parang ako abogado, trabaho ko 'to di ba.” Atty. Samaniego said with Super Radyo DZBB.
