Miss Universe Philippines Tourism Michelle Dee is staying true to her declaration that her autism advocacy is a “lifelong mission” for her as she advocates for National Autism Awareness Week on her Instagram account.
In her latest post, Michelle posted a video announcing the resumption of the annual Angel's Walk organized by the Autism Society Philippines. The live version of walk had to be postponed due to the global coronavirus pandemic, and this year marks the resumption in malls around the country. The Autism Society Philippines is “a national non-profit dedicated to the well-being of Filipinos who live on autism spectrum and those who care for them.”
It was back in 2019 that Michelle first revealed her two siblings with autism, Mazen Marquez and Adam Lawyer, and declared that her autism advocacy is a “lifelong mission” for her.
Autism awareness is just one of the causes that Michelle supports. During Pride Month last year, Michelle posted a couple of sexy pictures of her wearing a special edition T-shirt by the brand COS, who will be donating 100 percent of the profits to specific LGBTQIA+ organizations. In the caption to the post, Michelle asked her followers to check out the shirts that are “in support of the community we all should love.”
Aside from Michelle, the country's other beauty queens have also been busy advocating for the different causes they support. Celeste Cortesi expressed her support for the “world's largest cleft charity” on her Instagram account during the preliminary rounds of the 71st Miss Universe pageant.
Miss World Philippines Gwendolyne Fourniol, on the other hand, spent her Christmas with beneficiaries of the ERDA Foundation, an organization that she supports. She has also taught French to beneficiaries of the foundation.
