Michelle Dee

Accolades and recognitions continue to pour for Kapuso beauty queen Michelle Dee.

It's been several weeks since Michelle Dee's top 10 finish in the Miss Universe pageant, but the recognitions still continue to pour for the Kapuso beauty queen.

In one of the more recent posts on the Miss Universe Philippines official Instagram account, the organization posted several photos of Michelle being recognized by the Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FFCCCII). In the caption, the Miss Universe Philippines organization shared that Michelle was recognized by the FFCCCII for her “achievements as the Philippines' representative to the 72nd Miss Universe competition.”

It's not surprising that Michelle is receiving an accolade from the Filipino-Chinese community, as she herself is descended from a prominent family in the community. Her paternal grandmother is Regina Dee, a Chinese socialite born in Shanghai who eventually settled in the Philippines. Regina married Dee K. “DK” Chiong, the president of the China Banking Corporation, and served as a director in the bank for 20 years. Regina would have two children, Anthony and Frederick. Frederick would become the action star Derek Dee, who is Michelle's father.

The recognition from the FFCCCII is just the latest one Michelle has received since returning from El Salvador. Early this month, Michelle was recognized by the House of Representatives for her performance in the Miss Universe pageant, which aside from her top 10 finish included winning multiple special awards.

Michelle was also present at the Rizal Month flag-raising ceremony held at the Rizal Park in Manila. Michelle went to the event in her capacity as a Philippine Air Force Reservist.

After being recognized by the House of Representatives, Michelle also expressed her gratitude at being able to serve the country in any way that she can.

“Service has always been my love language and what better way to show that than by serving the country we all love,” she wrote in an Instagram post after her visit to the House of Representatives.
