After more than a decade of abandoning the manuscript, Twilight author Stephenie Meyer has announced that she will finally publish Midnight Sun, a retelling of her well-loved best-selling series from Edward Cullen's point of view.
The much-awaited prequel is set to be released on August 4, 2020.

Midnight Sun was originally set to be published over a decade ago, after the release of Breaking Dawn, the final installment in the Twilight series.
However, an unedited manuscript was leaked online, and the new book was put on hold indefinitely.
But, Twilight fans saw a glimmer of hope last week when a mysterious countdown clock suddenly appeared on Meyer's website, seemingly hinting that the dawn of a new era in the Twilight series is about to happen.
And on Monday, when the countdown ended, the site crashed as rabid Twilight fans flocked to the site to find out what the countdown was all about.
In a pre-recorded video on Good Morning America, Meyer said, “I am very excited to finally finally announce the release of Midnight Sun on August 4.
“It's a crazy time right now and I wasn't sure if it was the right time to put this book out. But, some of you have been waiting for just so so long. It didn't seem fair to make you wait anymore.”
Publisher Little, Brown and Company described the new book Midnight Sun as a 'new and decidedly dark twist' to the unforgettable tale of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen's love story.

It will reveal more details about Edward's past and shed light on the complexities of his mind.
And more importantly, it will make readers understand why and how a vampire like Edward can allow himself to fall in love with a human like Bellla, when he knows it will put her life in danger.
Basically, Midnight Sun lets you relive the iconic love story of Bella and Edward, but this time though, you're going to see it with brand new eyes.
So, whether you are Team Edward or Team Jacob, this prequel is certainly a must-read if you're a true blue Twilight fan.
