Working on an international project like Fight for Love may sound fancy, but there were a few challenges that Mikael Daez and Andrea Torres had to face while shooting for weeks in Cambodia.

The two Kapuso stars worked with locals Meas Thorn Srenai and Khat Vaihang who only spoke and understood Khmer.
“'Yung communication barrier [was definitely there] for our director who speaks English, kami [ni Andrea] Tagalog, [and our co-stars] Cambodian… We were struggling a bit ‘cause we were trying to figure out what the fastest way to communicate what we had to do,” Mikael noted.
Although everyone was nice, Andrea noted how it took a while for them to figure out a dynamic that works.
“Friendly sila talaga [and] approachable. Pero 'yun nga, minsan, merong gustong sabihin na mahirap i-explain talaga, kasi hindi naman nila madalas ginagamit 'yung English dun. So 'yun 'yung isa sa mga challenges,” she said.
Despite that, the experience is one they’ll always remember with fond memories.
“It was such a new experience. There was so much to learn. I’ve always been adventurous. I’ve always been into travelling so for me, it’s even doubly entertaining… It’s such an overwhelming experience. [We were] really happy about it,” Mikael noted.
Andrea also shared her realizations from the project.
“[I learned na] maging open talaga. Hindi mo kasi alam kung ano i-e-expect mo eh. So maging open lang sa kung ano'ng style nila. And siyempre, siguro kasi usually, sanay tayo [na] nandun lang tayo sa comfort zone natin lagi. Dito, tinuruan niya ko na mag-explore and mag-experiment din,” she concluded.
Part 2 of Fight for Love airs on SNBO on April 24.
