Mikael Daez updates netizens after his recent basketball injury.
Kapuso star Mikael Daez continues to be on the road to recovery after a major foot injury.
In his latest Instagram post, the actor revealed through a video that he's now relying on crutches following an accident during a basketball game. It was found he ruptured his Achilles tendon after overstretching the flexible tissue during the game.
"Sports-wise, this might be the worst injury to have, but honestly, I'm in good spirits,” Mikael shared. “I'll learn to walk again just as my son starts to walk too. Sabay na lang kami.”
To address the injury quickly, Mikael underwent his first-ever surgery. His wife and Kapuso actress Megan Young was seen by his side to take care of him, even sacrificing her favorite plushie for Mikael's comfort.
"Possibly the scariest basketball-related injury I could imagine. But at this point in my life, I guess we take whatever curveballs life throws at us," he captioned.
Despite the setback, Mikael expressed his determination to heal fast so he can help take care of their son, baby Leon.
"Then, over the long run, I can re-learn how to run and jump alongside my son. From what I've gathered, it's going to be a very long road to recovery but I'm always up for a challenge. Ps, moving around in crutches is tough," he added.
Fans and fellow celebrities quickly poured their support in the comments. Among those who sent their well-wishes were PBB star Michael Sager, Rocco Nacino, Shaira Diaz, Pancho Angelo Magno, Dion Ignacio, and Ryan Agoncillo.
Mikael and Megan tied the knot in 2020 and welcomed their baby boy, Leon, in May 2025.
Since then, Megan has been candid about her journey as a first-time mom, while Mikael embraced his role as a fun and hands-on dad. The newly parents continue to share lighthearted content and sweet family moments online.
Just last June, the couple celebrated their new chapter as parents by going on a special date--something Megan said was their way of still making time for each other as husband and wife.
