Miss Austria 2024 Lucia Sisic has died at 22, with the national pageant organization confirming her passing in a statement posted on social media.
Beauty queen Lucia Sisic, who was crowned Miss Austria in 2024, has died at the age of 22.
The Miss Austria organization Mission Austria announced her passing in a statement shared on its official Instagram account on Tuesday, September 8.
“It is with great shock and deep sadness that we learned of the passing of our Miss Austria 2024, Lucia Sisic.
Lucia will be remembered as a wonderful young woman. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with her family, friends, and all those close to her during this difficult time.
Dear Lucia, you will always be a part of our Miss Austria family.
Rest in peace.”
The cause of Lucia's death has not been publicly disclosed.
According to USA Today, however, Lucia was born with a heart valve defect and had undergone seven heart surgeries throughout her life. Her most recent surgery reportedly took place last winter.
Lucia previously spoke about her health journey in an Instagram post in August 2024. At the time, she expressed her gratitude to her pediatric cardiology team as she prepared to transition to adult cardiology care.
Despite her health struggles, Lucia continued to serve as Miss Austria following her coronation in 2024. She remained the reigning titleholder until her death, as the national pageant was not held in 2025 or 2026.
Mission Austria remembered Sisic as a beloved member of the Miss Austria family and extended its condolences to her loved ones.
