Miss Universe PH Celeste Cortesi is lending her voice to suicide prevention advocacy.

Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi is telling her fans and followers that it is okay to not be okay.

Celeste features in the latest social media posts of MindNation, a “global mental health and well-being organization with a goal of happier, healthier communities.” In the organization's posts on Facebook and Instagram, Celeste is shown holding a paper declaring “It's okay to not be okay.” In the caption to the posts, the MindNation asks people to “create hope through words when someone is struggling” and encourages people to talk to mental health professionals when needed.

Celeste is just one of the country's beauty queens that have come out in support of better mental health. Last year, former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach talked about her mental health struggles after winning the Miss Universe crown, sharing that she was diagnosed with a generalized anxiety disorder and major depression that required the Miss Universe organization to step in and arrange therapy sessions for her in New York and Los Angeles.

Miss Grand International Philippines Samantha Panlilio also shared the mental health issues that she encountered after competing in the Miss Grand International pageant, such as depression. Samantha eventually had to approach her friends and family for help, and took a social media break as well.

Miss World Philippines Tracy Maureen Perez is also fond of taking social media breaks as a way to “appreciate the gift of serenity” and to “recharge and to fight the silent battles with faith and hope for the future.”

Last month, Tracy posted a “normal day” photo of herself and called on her Instagram followers to “be both productive and unproductive” and realize that is okay.
