Celeste Cortesi

This is Celeste Cortesi's latest advocacy activity since winning the Miss Universe Philippines crown.

Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi is putting in the work to help those who need it as seen in one of her recent Instagram posts.

Celeste shared that as a way to “truly kickstart the holiday season,” she helped repacked care packages to be sent to families that have been victims of a fire in Sampaloc, Manila. According to her, this is a way to “spread kindness and support.” She posted three video clips and a photo of her at the repacking center.

This is the latest advocacy work that Celeste has participated in since winning the Miss Universe Philippine crown. Back in September, Celeste posted in support of Suicide Prevention Month.

In a post on the social media account of MindNation, a “global mental health and well-being organization with a goal of happier, healthier communities,” Celeste is shown holding a paper declaring “It's okay to not be okay.” According to MindNation, the post is meant to “create hope through words when someone is struggling” and encourages people to talk to mental health professionals when needed.

Better mental health is a shared advocacy among a number of the country's beauty queens. Last year, former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach talked about her mental health struggles after winning the Miss Universe crown. According to her, the Miss Universe organization had to step in and arrange therapy sessions for her in New York and Los Angeles after she was diagnosed with a generalized anxiety disorder and major depression.

After competing in the Miss Grand International pageant, Miss Grand International Philippines Samantha Panlilio suffered from depression, eventually needing to approach her friends and family for help, and took a social media break as well.

Miss World Philippines Tracy Maureen Perez is also fond of taking social media breaks as a way to “appreciate the gift of serenity” and to “recharge and to fight the silent battles with faith and hope for the future.”
