As of this writing, the preliminary competition for this year's Miss Universe pageant is being held, leading up to the pageant's coronation night on November 18 (El Salvador time). The country's representative, Michelle Dee, is hopeful that her closed-door interview will be instrumental in boosting her chances of winning the country's fifth Miss Universe crown.
In one of the more recent posts on her Instagram account, Michelle posted a photo of herself wearing a pink dress posing against a white door. In the caption to the post, she shared that she was “overall happy” about her performance during the pageant's closed-door interview and hoped that the “most important aspects” of her individuality were “well received and understood by the judges.”
The ongoing preliminary competition as well as the closed-door interview are just the latest steps in Michelle's Miss Universe journey. Aside from these two activities, Michelle also visited Best Buddies, “a non-profit organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)”.
As noted by the Miss Universe Philippines organization, this was a visit that Michelle was looking forward to as she is a goodwill ambassador for the Autism Society Philippines (ASP) and this would be a chance for her to further her “lifelong advocacy”. The caption also shared that nothing is more precious to Michelle than working towards inclusivity for those on the autism spectrum.
Michelle autism advocacy was also the centerpiece of her Voice for Change video where she talked about the ASP Autism Works program that includes career development programs, support systems, and life coaching for its beneficiaries. She would eventually top the Voice for Change voting.
Michelle has also been spending time getting to know her fellow delegates, even as early as the sash ceremony where she shared photos of her with other candidates at the InterContinental San Salvador-Metrocentro Mall in El Salvador.
