Miss Universe Philippines candidates how to wash hands


The phenomenal women of the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 show the proper handwashing to help combat COVID-19 in a video. Watch it here:

In this time of global health crisis, the phenomenal women of the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 reminded everyone of the best preventive measure against the coronavirus disease: proper handwashing.

The featured candidates in the video were La Union representative Trizha Ocampo, Quezon City representative Michele Gumabao, Palawan representative Jennifer Linda, Pasig City representative Riana Pangindian, Capiz representative Mariam Ashraf Abd El Hamid, Rizal representative Ericka Evangelista, Pampanga representative Patricia Mae Santos, Aurora representative Princess Laureano, and Cebu City representative Tracy Maureen Perez.

“Ayon po sa World Health Organization, ang paghuhugas daw po ng kamay ay ang pinaka-epektibong paraan upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng coronavirus or COVID-19,” Trizha Ocampo explained.

“It takes 20 to 30 seconds to properly wash your hands. If you don't want to count, they said, just sing the 'Happy Birthday' song two times,” Michele Gumabao added.

Here are the simple steps of proper handwashing according to the MUPh candidates:

1. Wet your hands with water.

2. Apply enough soap to cover all hands surface.

3. Rub hands palm to palm.

4. Right palm over left hand, interlaced fingers and vice versa.

5. Palm to palm, fingers interlaced.

6. Back of fingers to opposing palms, fingers interlocked.

7. Rotational rubbing of left and right thumbs and fingers.

8. Rotational rubbing with clasped fingers.

9. Rotational rubbing around the wrist.

10. Rinse hands with water.

11. Dry thoroughly with a towel or tissue.

“Tandaan po natin na ang wastong paghuhugas ng kamay gamit ang simpleng sabon at tubig regularly ay maaaring makapagligtas sa atin sa COVID-19. Kaya natin labanan itong virus na ito kung sama-sama tayo,” the candidates said.

The Miss Universe Philippines 2020 organization announced the postponement of its first-ever edition of the pageant on March 14 to comply with the country's efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The coronation night was originally scheduled to happen on May 3 at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.
