The renowned Filipino fashion designer shared that the MUPh Fashion Week will feature national costumes, street-wears, and swimsuits made by young local designers. A gala night will also be held involving senior designers.

For Andrada, the Miss Universe Philippines fashion week is more than just a prestigious event for it is also his advocacy.

“I think, this is one of my advocacies, to help the next generation of designers, those who are passionate to dress up candidates.

“I'm here to support them, to guide them. Because not all designers are into pageants.”

The Design Council head also believes that the talented makers of pageant dresses should be celebrated.

“One more thing, it's about time na it's not only about the dress that should be recognized, we should all also recognize the creator of the dress.

“We should give importance to the designer. If not for the designer, ano'ng itsura ng candidate sa pageant?”

The designer of Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach's coronation gown then explained the journey endured by designers in putting together a gown.

“It's all tears and sweat when we make just one simple gown, and nobody knows that.

“Sa amin kasi, that's our passion and we want to represent the Philippines. Kumbaga, a hundred percent Filipino talaga.

“Syempre, tayo, we want a Filipino designer - so pinaglaban ko talaga ito. I didn't stop.”
