Current reigning Miss World Asia Krishnah Gravidez may have just won her corwn, but she is already making strides as she embarks on a career in the music industry.
At the recently held press conference and creator day for Krishnah and her debut single Rainbow, GMANetwork.com was able to sit down with the beauty queen and newbie recording artists to find out her thoughts as she enters the music industry.
According to Krishnah, entering the music industry was not something that she planned, although she also does not find it surprising that she did find her way into the industry as music is something that has always been a part of her life.
“Ever since I was a child, I was inclined towards music talaga because my dad plays instruments and plays guitar. It was our bond together. Whenever he plays guitar, I sing,” she recalled. “My love for music grew as time went by. I became a fangirl of different artists, like Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber. I ventured more into music and then I just love music in general.”
When she won the Miss World Philippines pageant, Universe Philippines offered her a recording contract that the Miss World Philippines organization described as a “significant milestone in Krishnah's journey, blending her pageant success with a promising music career.”
That pageant experience is definitely something that Krishnah is banking on now to help her as she embarks on her musical career.
“I've grown so much, not just as a beauty queen but as a woman. And it taught me a lot of lessons. I encountered a lot of people with different backgrounds, different stories, and I've learned from those encounters. And now that I'm an official recording artist, I feel like I can use those experiences and my growth as a person to be more successful in this platform,” she explained.
As to her first single - a remake of the South Border hit Rainbow - Krishnah said that she was drawn to the song because its message resonated with her.
“It's really the message that I love about Rainbow. It's always seeing the positive side after all the things that you've been through. Rainbow is about surpassing your problems and I feel like my life in general as a beauty queen symbolizes that song,” she shared.
But beyond signing a remake, Krishnah also expressed her desire to soon write her own songs, as soon as she's confident about her songwriting skills, which she's honing along with the team of Universal Music Philippines.
“I'm really interested in writing my own songs, but right now I am asking for guidance from the Universal Records family. Writing a song, your free to write whatever lyrics that you want, but being in the pageant scene, I got used to being formal and sometimes templates and stuff like that. I am learning how to write a song. I'm really excited about the projects we will be producing,” she said.
One of her future dreams is to hold a concert at the Araneta Coliseum, as well as have a music career that is as long as Sarah Geronimo's, but for now, she is looking to go back to the life she had before she started her pageant career.
“I'm planning to go back and continue my studies because I paused for a while because of my pageant career. I want to finish my studies as a civil engineer while doing my music career and showbiz career on the side. I'm also looking forward to have my own business,” she said.
