Filipinos looking to enter the world of male pageantry should give this competition a try!
Filipinas in beauty pageants may get the lion's share of the attention, but there's also a number of male beauty pageants that Filipinos compete in - like the recent Mister Supranational. Starting next week, aspiring Filipino pageant competitors can send in their applications to take part in their first step toward international pageants.
The Miss Universe Philippines announced on their official Instagram account that they will be accepting applications for the Mister Pilipinas Worldwide pageant on August 26, September 2, and September 9 at Coworking in Estancia Mall in Ortigas. Winners of the Mister Pilipinas Worldwide will represent the country at Mister Supranational, Mister Global, and at Manhunt Supermodel.
Mister Pilipinas Worldwide is one of the events that make up The Filipino Festival, which is set to launch this October and is “a celebration of everything Filipino from food, arts and crafts, music, fashion, film, and even pageants.”
Aside from the Mister Pilipinas Worldwide pageant, the Filipino Festival is also set to stage The Miss Philippines pageant, with Pauline Amelinckx as its first titleholder. The pageant promises to bring in delegates from Filipino communities around the world to promote Filipino culture and heritage, with The Miss Philippines California already being announced.
The Miss Philippines California would be the third pageant the Miss Universe Philippines organization has introduced, following The Miss Philippines and Mister Pilipinas Worldwide. The group also teased the possibility of the next Miss Universe Philippines being a “Fil-Am beauty”.
Meanwhile, current Miss Universe Philippines titleholder Michelle Dee is preparing hard for the upcoming Miss Universe coronation night in Ecuador on November 18.
Aside from pageants, the Filipino Festival will also feature the Filipino Food Festival which hopes to bring lesser-known dishes of the country to the forefront, the Filipino Arts and Crafts Festival will feature Filipino products, the Filipino Music Festival that will feature Filipino music, and the Filipino Film Festival that seeks to launch the careers of film students.
The organization also recently called on aspiring fashion designers to apply for the festival's Filipino Fashion Fest, with winning designers getting the chance “to work with Miss Universe Philippines, The Miss Philippines, and Mister Pilipinas Worldwide.”
