Philippine bet Mary Jean Latimosa made it to the Top 10 of the 63rd Miss Universe pageant, but failed to take home the crown.
Miss Colombia Paulina Vega bagged the much coveted title, wowing the judges and the crowds with her answer to the question ‘What could women learn from men?’
“I believe that women… that’s quite a tough question. I believe there are still men who believe in equality. I believe that that t is what women should learn from men,” she said.
She also got resounding cheers when she answered the Facebook question for all five finalists which asks ‘What is the greatest contribution of your country to the entire world?’
“I believe that my country has been an example to be followed for the rest of the countries. We are a persevering people no matter what [obstacles] we have in our way, and we continue fighting for that which we want to accomplish… We are leaders in many different matters and I am quite proud to represent that before all of you,” she answered.
Meanwhile, Miss USA Nia Sanchez, Miss Ukraine Diana Harkusha, Miss Netherlands Yasmin Verheijen, and Miss Jamaica Kaci Fennell finished second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
The event was held in Doral, Miami in the United States.
