MOMOLAND

After six years, K-pop band MOMOLAND has officially disbanded.

K-pop girl group MOMOLAND has announced their disbandment on February 14, 2023.

This came after the group's departure from their label MLD Entertainment on January 27, following the expiration of the members' contracts.

MOMOLAND's six members -- Ahin, Hyebin, Jane, JooE, Nancy, and Nayun -- posted handwritten letters on Instagram in both Korean and English announcing their decision. The girls expressed their sadness and shared they will be going their separate ways, through Nancy's Instagram. The six members also thanked their fans called "merries" for the support they've given in the past six years.

"First of all, we sincerely apologize to our Merries [MOMOLAND's fans] facing the news through an article. We are truly sorry for the late update," Nancy wrote.

"After a long, deep discussion, the six of us members have decided to support each other to have a great new beginning going forward.

"Even though we have decided to take our own paths towards our dreams, Us MOMOLAND will always be a team.”

She continued, "We sincerely thank our beloved Merries for providing us with precious memories and being by our side for the last seven years. Our Merries have been everything to us and always will be.

"We are deeply sorry that we couldn't let you guys know sooner, but sincerely thank each and everyone that has patiently waited for us.

"Moving forward, please continue to support and love MOMOLAND and each and every member's path.”

"Thank you," she ended.

MOMOLAND was formed in 2016 through the reality talent show "Finding MOMOLAND." The group popularized hits such as "BBoom BBoom," and "BAAM." They initially debuted with nine members before Yeonwoo and Taeha left the group in 2019 and Daisy in 2020.

They previously visited the country at the Ripples For Hope 2022: A K-pop Friendship Day & Night event back in November 2022.
