How soon, you ask? How about this February!
On Wednesday, January 20, South Korean news agency Sports DongA reported that I.M. is working on his upcoming solo single released by the end of February.
Following the reports, a source from Starship Entertainment has confirmed the news.
“I.M. is preparing to release a solo single at the end of February,” the source said as written by Soompi.com.
While this is not the first time the K-pop idol has worked on his solo music career, this will be his first official single since his debut with MONSTA X back in 2015.
It can also be recalled that in January, I.M., real name Im Changkyun, hinted that he's working on his music at the Golden Disc Awards, where MONSTA X took home the Best Group Award.
He said, “I don't know when but, I hope to be able to get my personal album out soon.
“I think it's my first time to do it officially.”
In 2016 when I.M. first released his mixtape through Starship Entertainment's YouTube channel titled “Who Am I?” featuring singer Yeseo.
More than three years later, he followed it up with another mixtape with the lead single “Horizon” in collaboration with American artist ELHEA. And the year after, the two worked together in the single “Need to Know.”
In terms of his discography under the Starship boy group, I.M. has been credited with most of their songs as he writes most of his verses with fellow rapper Jooheon.
As of this writing, I.M. is credited to writing and producing 90 tracks as registered with the Korea Music Copyright Association.
This includes MONSTA X hits like “Horizon,” “Fly With Me,” “Night View,” “U R,” and “Scent.”
As for their group's activities for the year, MONSTA X is eyeing to go on a world tour once it's safe for crowds to gather once more in an enclosed event.
As revealed by vocalist Kihyun, “If things get better, if it really works out the way we wanted it to be, we'd like to have a world tour to meet Monbebes around the globe.
“We are often called MONSTA OX because we work really hard like cows. I think we'll release a new album too.”
