Morissette Amon has taken to social media to address a post accusing her of delivering a less-than-stellar performance at a recent corporate event.
Morissette posted her side of the story on her Instagram Story, with screenshots also appearing on her Facebook account. In it, Morissette shared that she could not understand where the hate was coming from and distanced herself from event director Vic Sevilla, who she said she never met. Vic Sevilla is the man who posted about Morissette's alleged subpar performance on his Facebook account.
The singer explained that she was bedridden the day before the event and had thought of canceling. However, she decided against it as “the show must go on”. Her husband, Dave Lamar, also had to cancel his work for the day to drive her to the event as she could not drive due to her condition. Morissette also shared that the event's talent coordinator knew the state of her health even before the event and took care of her backstage, especially since her condition was bad enough to warrant the use of steroids.
While Morissette admitted that she was not at a hundred percent, she insisted that she still gave her all and belted her heart out. She also shared that she took the time to take photos with the staff after the event before heading home and that the event staff applauded her for getting through her set despite not being in her best shape.
Morissette ended her explanation by saying that she could not please everybody and that she holds herself to a high standard when it comes to her craft. She then old her followers to take care of themselves and stay away from unnecessary negativity.
In the comments of the post, public relations professional Girlie Rodis wrote that the person “has been spoken to and straightened out” and apologized for the negative feedback Morissette received.
Morissette first found fame as the winner of a singing competition.
The story first started on Vic Sevilla's Facebook page, where he wrote about the subpar performance of a guest singer at a corporate event. He explained that the singer was labeled as the “phoenix” because of her ability to sing “extremely difficult songs and her ability to 'whistle' a la Mariah Carey”. He then shared that the singer's “much-vaunted vocal power” was missing that night and that she was “zapped of energy, acted uninterested, and sounded distant and cold.”
Sevilla then wrote that it was disappointing to have singers of that stature behave that way as they demand “a hefty price” to appear in corporate events. The singer allegedly could not even fake enthusiasm and was “a complete waste of time and money” according to him.
The said post is no longer available on his Facebook account.
